Educational
Materials
NASA Ames' Educator Resource Center offers a wide variety of educational
materials. ERC materials reflect NASA research and technology development
in such curriculum areas as life science, physical science, astronomy,
energy, earth resources, the environment, mathematics, geography, and
careers in aerospace. Materials include:
Videotape Programs
NASA produces numerous educational video tapes. Most of these videotapes
are approximately 30 minutes in length. Subject areas represented include
Aeronautics, Astronomy, Biology, Space Science, Careers, Mars Missions,
Earth Resources, International Space Station, Living in Space, Mathematics,
Physics, Social Sciences, What's in the News, and more. NASA Ames ERC
does not sell or lend video tapes. However, we do maintain a wide selection
of over 200 videotape titles. Educators visiting our center are welcome
to make an appointment to preview and/or duplicate
these tapes. You can
view a copy of Ames ERC's most recent catalog
of video tapes. Educators
may also purchase video tapes directly from NASA
CORE. Selected video
clips are available to be viewed and downloaded on-line from Spacelink's
Video Archives.
35mm Slides
NASA offers a wide variety of educational slide sets. These sets cover
such areas as Aeronautics, Astronomy, Earth Science, Geography, Microgravity,
Propulsion, Space Exploration, and more. NASA Ames ERC does not sell
or lend slides. However, the ERC does maintain a large collection of
35mm slide sets which come with written scripts or audio cassettes as
well as over 1500 individual slides. Educators visiting our center are
welcome to make an appointment to preview
these slides. Educators may
also purchase slide sets directly from NASA
CORE. Selected slide shows
are available to be viewed and downloaded on-line from Spacelink's
Online Slide Shows. An on-line version of the slide presentation
The Moon: Geologic History And Future Exploration is available through
the Ames ERC site.
Curriculum Materials/Lesson Plans
Educators may review and duplicate lesson plans and curriculum materials
related to the space program while visiting the ERC. The materials are
classified by grade level and subject area. A range of curriculum support
material is also available on-line through Spacelink's
Curriculum Support Page.
NASA Publications
NASA educational publications, lithographs, and posters are available
to visiting teachers. In addition to NASA publications, the ERC has a
selection of other aerospace reference and educational materials. Educators
can use these materials to research a variety of aerospace topics. A
wide selection of NASA publications is also available through Spacelink;
many of which may be downloaded for free.
